35018 'British India Line' returns to the South Western main line, 6th July 2019

35018 British India Line was built at Eastleigh, and entered traffic for the Southern Railway in May 1945. The first rebuilt Bulleid Pacific, converted at Eastleigh in February 1956. Withdrawn from service in the week ending 9th August 1964, seen here a couple of months beforehand. Removed from the scrapyard in 1979, resident at Ropley for some time, then Portland, eventually seen in steam in 2017, follwing a restoration at Carnforth. This excursion marked its return to traffic on the Southern Region.
