57305 approaches Redbridge, which was under an amount of sea mist.


57305 started work for GBRf  in August, following release of the locomotive by DRS, who sub-leased it to Rail Operations Group.


57305 was once 47822. The number font comes from its Rail Operations Group scheme. I remember first seeing this locomotive as 47164 in July 1977.

Eastleigh Works, 28th January 2024


The driver's side window scratches match these of 802011.and inspection shows that the stress crack welding has been completed, but now needs cosmetic revival. 802011 arrived at Eastleigh on 14th July. Cab of 'Merchant Navy' 35005 at left.


Mk2f TSO 5922 (BREL Derby Lot 30846, April 1973) has been reported as one of two for LSL spares.

The second of these is the adjacent Mk2f TSO 6036 BREL Derby, Lot 30860, 1974).



Another of the LSL former EWS Mk2f's, 142017 held for LSL spares. and 319380 (for Orion High Speed Logistics - project on hold).

The lights are illuminated on preserved 313201.

66850 has been in Eastleigh Works for engine repairs since ~8th January. When there, it provided its better bogies to 66849.

DB Cargo Class 60 now permanently removed from traffic. 56081 sent to Longport for disposal or rebuild.

Emergency work to stabilise a cutting near Fareham in south east Hampshire will mean buses replace trains between Eastleigh and Fareham next week

66756 comes out of East Yard with 4O77 02:56 London Gateway - Marchwood empty flats/ The locomotive returned later with loaded 4Z47 12:18 Marchwood -Doncaster Down Decoy.


59003 YEOMAN HIGHLANDER was working as a super-shunter, but returned to the Westbury circuit later in the day.


A dirty 66779 EVENING STAR running through platform 2 with a late running 6O41 10:14 Westbury - Eastleigh.

66718 approaching with 66718 4O46 03:24½ Ardwick Jn - Western Docks. The previous day's 4M46 with the same loco terminated at Ardwick Jn, and this may have been the returning train rather than traffic from Trafford Park.


66718 was re-liveried at Eastleigh Works in May 2023.


The revised name of 66718 is Peter, Lord Hendy of Richmond Hill, of Imber in the County of Wiltshire.

59005 closer to the station platforms.All wagons were Greenbrier-Astra Rail  JNAs.


66605 with the power on, running through platform 1 with 6V62 13:21 Up Yard - Westbury Tarmac, a revision of destination for this working. the wagons were all Marcroft JNAs built in 2000-01 and now the 'senior' 90 in the Mendip box fleet.

73966 on the rear. Originally D6005, it was new in  July 1962 from Eastleigh Carriage Works, later 73005/


66771 Amanda + 73969 0B25 16:30 Inverness - Craigentinny T.&R.S.M.D, 24th December.


73969 (formerly 73105) on the rear.


66771 + 73969 0H16 11:35 Craigentinny T.&R.S.M.D - Inverness, 27th December. This working reversed at Kirkcaldy, and returned to Craigentinny, when a decision was made to stop all workings north of Perth and Dundee, under the effects of Storm Gerrit.

A train under test: 458423 + 458528 5Q90 11:19 Bournemouth T&R.S.M.D - Basingstoke, then 5Q91 13:20 Basingstoke - Bournemouth T&R.S.M.D


458428 on the rear of 5Q90. This unit was moved north as 458528 on 27th September, and returned on 8th November.


485428 now leading on 5Q91. Current expectation seems to be that these units may work on Alton turns.
