DB Cargo at Eastleigh, 29th May 2024

 


66019 at Eastleigh Works. 66019 failed at Western Docks about 24th April, and was moved to the Works about 17th May. The problem is thought to be related to wheel flats, preventing a return to Toton.


66244 4O43 04:28 Wakefield - Western Docks, about to pass under the Campbell Road bridge. This was a Euro Cargo Rail loco, which returned to UK mainline usage in May 2023.


66002 4O39 09:43 Morris Cowley - Eastern Docks. This loco was  repainted in early April. 60001 and 66002 are not fitted with buckeye couplers 

66003, still marked for EWS, with 4O21 09:20 Trafford Park - Western Docks.


66244 returns with 4E68 15:48 Western Docks - Wakefield.

Two emu drags at Eastleigh, 29th May 2024

 


57303 (+ 458427) 5X64 11:27 Wembley Receptions 1-7 - Southampton Central, for onward working to Bournemouth. However, it failed at Poole, with a translator problem, and was still there on the morning of 30th.


458427 was converted from 458527, sent to Widnes on 30th April - 1st May.


Former Class 313 driving end of 64664 Liwet.


47712 Edinburgh Castle / Caisteal Dhùn Èideann (+ 701012)  5Q26 08:53 Derby Litchurch Lane - Eastleigh Trsmd.


The same combination worked north to Derby for modifications to 701012 , on 1st March.

50008 works down the reversible Up Fast to access Millbrook Freightliner Terminal. I

50008 Thunderer + 4-TC + 20007 1Z55 07:03 Eastleigh - London Kings Cross


I was prepared for a platform 3 shot from the Bishopstoke Road bridge, but the train went into platform 2.

Idling in the platform. 50008 was new from English Electric Vulcan Foundry, Newton-le-Willows, as D408 om 22nd March 1968, and was withdrawn from Plymouth Laira on 5th June 1992, finding a first preservation home on the East Lancashire Railway.


50008 makes the departure.

20007 was new as pilot scheme D8007, entering traffic at Devons Road (Bow) on 19th September 1957. After working on  the LMR, ScR and ER, the locomotive was withdrawn in July 1993. In preservation was kept at Cheddleton, then later at Butterley and Ruddington. Now, the oldest main line diesel locomotive working on Network Rail, owned by Michael Owen.

Swanage Railway Diesel Gala, 10th May 2024 Part 2: 69002 'Bob Tiller CM&EE'

69002 stood in for 69007, which failed on Wednesday 8th, on a working to Eastleigh, leading towards the gala. 69002 was formerly 56311, originally 56057, completed at BREL Doncaster on 27th March 1979. Following rebuild at Longport, it was outshopped from Eastleigh Works paintshop on 4th May 2021. In recent weeks it has been working between Eastleigh and Hoo.

As an air-brake only loco, 69002 was restricted to working with the 4-TC set, which reduced later opportunities when several of the Swanage - Corfe stopping trains were cancelled in the afternoon.

At Redbridge on 13th, 458512 ran as 5B39 10:01 Wimbledon Park Depot Sdgs - Bournemouth T&R.S.M.D, for preparation for the trip to Widnes for the modification programme.

37219 returns from Swanage, Redbridge, 13th May 2024

37219 Jonty Jarvis 8-12-1998 to 18-3-2005 0F75 10:30 Swanage - Redbridge (reverse) -Westbury.. 56096 was then attached at Westbury, and the pair proceeded to the Colwick maintenance depot.

37219 was switched to the down line at Totton, this being bi-directional for access across the causeway to the Redbridge yards. This was used when wagons were stored at Marchwood through weekends.

37219 has now crossed the main line, and starting up the Test Valley towards Romsey and Salisbury.
