SECR 65 and LSWR 563 approaching Norden from Corfe Castle.

LSWR 563 was completed at Nine Elms in March 1893, and withdrawn from service in 1945.


SECR 65 was built in 1896 at Ashford, and rebuilt as an O1 in 1908, running in this form until 1961.

59003, which arrived on 11th, was then pushed into a Works bay.


73970 was moved from East Yard onto the Works on Monday 18th  or Tuesday 19th.

A pair of Gresley Spencer Moultton bogies in the Works, likely associated with VSOE / Belmond Pullman cars. The design originated with the GNR in 1908.

Having run around in the East Yard, 69008 approaches the depot entrance. 

Running past the former Works offices.

701016 was delivered on 7th January 2021, and was stored at Marchwood on 6th January 2023. It was then removed from Marchwood on 26th July 2023, and returned there on 29th August.

Eastleigh Works and T&RSMD, 15th March 2024

 A limited amount of change outdoors.

Some stripping for spares from 5922 and 6036 took place in January. Following shunting, it can be seen that some windows have been removed,, along with roofline water tanks.

701036, delivered 15th August 2023; 701057, delivered 15th September 2023, stored at Marchwood 19th October to 19th February.

701003, delivered 7th February; 701509, delivered 2nd February 2022. In the background, Eastern Airways Embraer E170LR G-CMLI  was taking off on a positioning move to Luton.

66154 ran early with 4O43 06:13 Wakefield Europort - Westernn Docks. Recently repainted in October 2023. The locomotive took over the Wakefield Workings from Toton on 13th, after 66182 was failed.

59205 hauling 6V62 1321 Up Yard - Westbury Tarmac.


70017 threading its way from platform 3 with 4O90 06:04 Leeds - Maritime.

Totton: Work begins on £350k revamp of railway station

The former railway building on Southampton Road, Eastleigh, just south of Campbell Road bridge, was once again for sale by auction, on 12th March, outcome not known.

66791 is now hired to Colas, and has been seen on the Eastleigh - Hinksey - Bescot work. 70009 has migrated to Lindsey Oil Refinery workings.

70012 out on test.  It does not have the vent modifications for the reliability improvements.

57302 Chad Varah tends to be rather camera shy. A year ago, it was thought that some work was commencing, but no progress to note, and it has spent the winter outdoors.

44078, now configured as a TGF, which arrived on 2nd November. The nearest large window appears to have been replaced.

10416, a Buffet Standard, which arrived on 11th January.

43062 John Armitt leads the working into Romsey.


975814 is a Conference Coach, originally a prototype HST TF coach 11000, later 41000, built to Lot 30848 at Derby in 1972. Converted to Test Car 10 in 1981.


After turning around at Redbridge, the train returned, now led by 43013 Mark Carne.CBE.


977984 Staff Coach (HST catering vehicle 40501, as a TRUK once part of 253001 from November 1976).
