66849 crosses the main lines as VST 0F75 13:02 Eastleigh - Westbury.

VTG 95616 is one of a KWA pair in the yard, all of this type are said to be in storage.

69008 being finished by a contractor Spectrum Signs at Eastleigh Works.

Two Class 442 coaches have entered Eastleigh Works for "feasibility work".

69008 on a Class 701 drag, Eastleigh, 26th July 2023

This appears to have been the first week where 69008 was out to directly drag Class 360 and 701 emus. 

69008 arrives as 5Q47 0924 Marchwood Mod Gbrf - Wimbledon Park C.S.D., making a short stop in platform 1.

701016 was dragged, having been delivered to Marchwood six months previously, on 26th January. Earlier 69008 had returned 701019 to Marchwood, it having been stored there on 25th January and moved to Wimbledon on 13th July. Will the same cycle be followed for all of the Marchwood units?

Newly repainted 66309 outside Eastleigh Works. This Akiem locomotive was 77501. built in 2009, and arrived in the UK in early May.


73964 Jeanette arrived at the Works on 21st July.

66717 Good Old Boy which proceeded on Monday as 4E34 05:21 Eastleigh - Doncaster Iport via Redbridge and Laverstock; 66303, which moved forward to Western Docks as 4B19 on Monday morning; 73213 Rhodalyn, which currently appears to be a yard shunter, with 08683 behind.

73213 and 08683 again, looking beyond to 66585, 73116 and 73119 (in 'Dutch' scheme), 08629 and 66749.

66847 Terry Baker, 70809 and 66849 Wylam Dilly, adjacent to the station.

153376, VIU 2.

66025.re-entered traffic in February after a repaint.

Class 313 observations, Eastleigh Works, 23rd July 2023

 

The situation on Sunday 16th appeared to be that one further coach of 313207 had been scrapped since Wednesday 12th.. In the working week since, it may be that only 3 coaches have been scrapped, which would possibly leave one coach of 313204 (farthest), 313209, and two coaches of 313216 (nearest), which has been split. I have checked for other pictures on Flickr, but cannot be more precise..  

313211, one of the last pair to arrive.


62608 of 313216 has been separated from the rest of the unit.

313205, while part of the last pair to arrive, is in a position used to prepare before entry to the scrap queue. However the doors remain closed.


313219.has been moved forward.


313213 appears not to have moved.


313210.

313217 (obscured), 313203 (which is the one I needed to note) and 313208.

The Elusive 56 + 69, Redbridge, 19th and 21st July 2023

 

After running 4 hours late on the previous evening, 6908 leads VST scheduled 5M50 09:00 Bournemouth T&R.S.M.D - Eastleigh East Yard, which gained 8 minutes comeing through the New Forest.

GBRf start a Southampton - Ditton service. "We’ve exciting news - from tomorrow, we’ll be running a new intermodal service from Southampton to Widnes. Running three times a week (Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday), the train will increase connectivity between the south coast and the north west.". On these days there will be no East Midlands Gateway working.

68034 Rail Riders 2020 arrives at Eastleigh in heavy rain, wirh 6Z31 08:58 Crewe - Eastleigh, on 14th July. This locomotive was delivered to Workington in July 2017, and was named on 10th  June. Image by Roger Homan.

The PFA's were DRSL 92703 (next to 68034) & DRSL 92779.

The bodyshell of 57004, seen working for Freightliner in January 2005, has been scrapped at J Watson & Sons, Stafford. This was 47347.

Recently repainted 08567 is attached to the 4-TC to shunt within the Works.

Now prepared to drive from the other locomoitive end, to proceed into the Works.

A shunt manoeuvre sees the 4-TC lead into platform 3.


The leading coach for the shunt was DTSO 76324.

Air brake and ETS connections between DTSO 76297 and 33012.
