800203 passes over the repaired crossing with 5X95 (Bounds Green -)  10:18 Basingstoke - Eastleigh.

800203 takes the Botley line to go through to the T&RSMD.

PDTS 811203 of 800203. This unit received attention at Eastleigh in June 2019.

66416 uses the reinstated route from platform 3 with 4O14 05:34 Basford Hall - Maritime.

Lightly loaded 66955 4O51 09:45 Wentloog - Maritime, which was not actually a divert.

After which, rain stopped play for me; the next working was 66549 4O29 08:50 Basford Hall - Maritime.

81.70.6774.075-0 is the last of the recently delivered HOA series, delivered in the same batch as 064-4.

66560 + 66416 DIT passing through running early with 4O14 04:59 Garston - Maritime.

66106 also running early with 4O39 09:43 Cowley - Eastern Docks.

Regular for most days for the past two weeks, 70016 working 4M61 1300 Maritime - Trafford Park.

SWR operated Fawley Branch train this coming Tuesday 28th.

70017 worked to Wentloog and back on 22nd, one two three, where 66562 appears to have been picked up from  Wentloog to move it from Stoke Gifford to Maritime. 70017 was again recorded on 24th.

70003 and 70005 appear to be being reactivated.

57002 and 57003 are being stored by DRS. They were last in this area in January. The pair were working together on 26th June, and 57003 was recently at Bo'ness, for what was understood to be an ERTMS assessment, going north on 2nd July and returning on 17th.

701005 is delivered to Eastleigh T&RSMD, 20th July 2020


66742 + 701005 + 66770 6X24 0618 Derby Litchurch Lane - Eastleigh Trsmd

66742 Port of Immingham Centenary 1912 - 2012 leads the formation through platform 3.

A DMS of 701005, which is painted with logos and unit numbers. Unusually, the driver's cab door is open, and photographs show that it was open for the transit of the SWML.

The other DMS is seen beyond the Works boundary, as the train proceeds to the T&RSMD.

Freight at Eastleigh, 20th July 2020


This MO train runs through the fast lines at Eastleigh, 66559 leads 4O18 07:24 Lawley Street - Maritime. 59003 passing through platform 3 while returning to the yard.

66760 David Gordon Harris with MoD containers, 6Z44 12:18 Marchwood - East Yard. 

The last wagon was FAA 609065, now a rare type, which is length inefficient, seen mostly on MoD traffic.

66727 Maritime One with the recently introduced 4M19 11:50 Western Docks - East Midlands Gateway.

Recently repainted 66790 (formerly T66403) arrives with SITT equipment, normally kept at Tonbridge, seen entering the Works.

66068 moves more Minis for export, 4O40 09:43 Morris Cowley - Eastern Docks.

Eastleigh Works, 20th July 2020


73133 is seen with 40739, which has been at the works since 5th June, expected to be for disposal.

43055 which arrived last week. The FWA Ecofret wagons close to the fence are those from the January derailment, which arrived from Maritime on 9th April for inspection and repair.

08507 shunting a Class 319 coach.

This is Class 319 MS 62899 or 63055 part way through paintshop attention.

MTA 395259 has arrived, it would seem to be likely to be for scrapping. 47848 and 50026 are in the background. MTA wagons are getting rarer.

The adjacent botanic wagon is MHA 394114.

59204 leads 7O40 13:35 Merehead - Eastleigh, with six new red Touax HOAs leading.

81.70.6774.066-9 is a Touax HOA which arrived at Wembley on delivery on 10th June.

66536 came after the stone train, with 4O57 13:29 Wentloog - Maritime. The KTA wagons were 97745, 97761, 97716, 97762, 97730, 97774, 97726 & 97769.

DCR 60046 William Wilberforce heading 6Z91 16:15 Westbury - Up Yard. Thanks for the extra toots.

The rake seemed to be the same as that in June, and the final JNA was 81.70.5500.700-6.

13th - 18th July 2020


70016 has been returned to traffic, with new larger logos on the cab sides. Seen approaching Eastleigh with 4M61 13:00 Maritime - Trafford Park on Wednesday 16th.

70016 was stored in February 2017, and returned to traffic on 7th January this year, but was not noted on intermodal duties before storage at lockdown time.

The global economy seems to be in some recovery, and 70016 is back in traffic one two three four, we seem to still be waiting for 70017.

SWR have an option to order five more Class 701 units. A delivery is chalked in for Monday: 6X24 06:18 Derby LL to Eastleigh ATC.

IE 224 has a severe frame crack - picture - discussion - Irish Examiner - RAIU - relevant to Class 66?

37521 with the LSL move, Eastleigh, 15th July 2020


37521 (D6817) 5Z36 07:14 Crewe HS - Eastleigh Works
with 43046 + 10416 + 43055.


The train creeps between the station and the Works.

43046 and 43055 left EMR service, and moved from Neville Hill to Crewe on 25th June

37521 is marked a D6817, its identity when new in March 1963, this being its first visit to this area for Locomotive Services. In 2013 it was a player in the Swanage Railway Diesel Gala.

43046 was new to traffic in March 1977, allocated into WR set 253023, but in the early 1980s this unit had been reformed and transferred to the ECML in 254040. At a time in the past it carried the name Royal Philharmonic.

Coach 10416 is not an HST trailer. Completed at BREL Derby as FO M11035 as part of Lot 30875 in 1975-76. Converted to Restaurant Buffet First 10228 in the 1984-87 period, then to Buffet Standard 10416 in 2015-16. It arrived at Eastleigh with no seats.

43055 was new to traffic in June 1977, allocated into WR set 253027, but in the early 1980s this unit had been reformed and transferred to the ECML in 254038. Most recently it carried the name The Sheffield Star 125 Years, having at a previous time been Sheffield Star.
