The Southern Way Special No 16: The Bournemouth Electrification is rather interesting for coverage of the 1967 and onwards electrification, associated traffic, and infrastructure in this area, with which many readers are familiar.

The LNER HST era will end on Sunday 15th December. Here is 254010 in the early era of fixed set formations including power cars, which I recorded as 43074 and 43075,  at Edinburgh on 13th March 1979, having been delivered from BREL at Crewe in December 1977. My notes also record 27030, believed to be running past on the left, withdrawn in April 1986 and cut up by Vic Berry at Leicester in October 1987.
  • 43074 is now MTU powered 43274, was Spirit of Sunderland, and has just been transferred to EMR from ECML service.
  • 43075 is now VP185 powered and while in East Midlands colours was latterly in LNER service, and is now moved to Tyne Yard from Neville Hill formed up in a rake with NL65 for scrap.
