New and old wagons on stone train workings, week of 31st October 2022

Thirty new blue VTG JNA wagons 81.70.5932.581 - 610 arrived at Merehead on 4th November, making 150 so far out of what appears to be an expected 236 wagons, so further change may be anticipated, as the legacy Mendip Rail fleet is replaced.

Tuesday 1st November at Romsey


59103 6V62 13:21 Southampton Up Yard (Fl) - Whatley Quarry F Liner Hh. Newest JNA wagon was 81.70.5932.510-7, it appeared to be the same set as performed the working on the previous Friday.



66514 6V07 13:41 Chichester Recp. (Flhh) - Merehead Quarry (Fhh).


The newest JNA wagon was 81.70.5932.574-3, similar to Thursday 27th October.

Thursday 3rd November at Romsey


66523 7V07 13:41 Chichester Recp. (Flhh) - Merehead Quarry (Fhh). The set was partly formed of that from Tuesday on same working, but the latter part was another, including 45 mph JYA wagons.


The newest JNA was 81.70.5932.570-1, which was in the Tuesday rake.


In order in the rake, the 45 mph JYA wagons were OK 3308 ...


OK 3322 ...


& 'outer' OK 3276.

Friday 4th November at Eastleigh


66621 6V62 1321 Southampton Up Yard (Fl) to Whatley Quarry F Liner Hh


The set appeared similar to one previously noted on 21st October, with highest numbered JNA being 81.70.5932.515-6.


The rake also included four Marcroft JNA wagons, the eldest was VTG 3404, also the lowest numbered of these in the active Mendip pools.
