The humble Coalfish are being displaced by the latest deliveries of yellow wagons for Network Rail use. One sample move, 6Z83,on 9th February, took 18 MHA and MPA wagons to EMR at Attercliffe for disposal. 6 of these 18 were found readily in my recent photos at Eastleigh, shown below.
These wagons were converted by Wabtec, Doncaster and EWS, Margam in 1997-2004, using the underframes from HAA coal hoppers. The MPA variant represents a modification of the brake pads.
