Gloucester & Warwickshire Diesel Gala, 26th July 2019: 37248

This loco was new as D6948 from English Electric Vulcan Foundry on 30th October 1964, allocated to Cardiff Canton. Renumbered to 37248 in April 1974.

I first noted this locomotive on the 19th August 2001 at Eastleigh, then again on 5th June 2002 when it passed Romsey on a 1Y97 17:19 Salisbury - Waterloo special train.

Placed into reserve by EWS in December 2003, sold to private owners September 2005, then back in use by West Coasr under a loan agreement from August 2006, which included some work on The Royal Scotsman. Its last main line passenger working was double headed with 37676 on 29th November 2008 on 1Z48 05:45 Poole - Blackpool and 1Z49 15:48 Blackpool - Poole for Spitfire Railtours, on which I travelled. Preserved from 2009, under the custodianship of The Growler Group and overhauled extensively through until 2016.

Arriving at Toddington with 37215 on the right.

The last train of the day to Cheltenham draws into Winchcombe.

Running around at Cheltenham.
