Stately Train from Embsay to Bolton Abbey, 28th July 2024

 


Austerity 68067 (Hudswell Clarke 1752 / 1943, formerly Bold Colliery No 7 Robert, which became familiar at Rocket 150) is on hire, and brought the stock into Embsay station.


LNWR 5318 is a Directors' Saloon from 1913.


Great Eastern Railway 14 of 1889, "SPEC Officers' saloon for district engineer, Mr Wilson".


Great North of Scotland Railway 34 of 1896, 5-compartment lavatory composite.


Sumptuous interior of GNoSR 34, in which I travelled. "the only Scottish coach operational in England and only one of two complete GNoSR carriages left".


Great Eastern Railway 8 of 1877, and upgraded in 1881 for Edward, Prince of Wales, was added to the train by 08773.

LSWR Saloon No. 17 of 1885, as used by Queen Victoria from 1887, sometimes to travel to Gosport.


68067 waits for 08773 to complete the shunt move.


Later in the day, 68067 arrives at Bolton Abbey with the Stately Train. The signal box came from Guiseley Station.


As may be anticipated, here are a number of BR Mark 1 coaches. Also, these Class 307 coaches, built at Eastleigh 1954 - 56, which were converted as PCVs (Propelling Control Vehicle) for mail train shunt usage. They were acquired from West Coast Railway Company last year, and are used for storing Polar Express paraphernalia.

DRP 81525 is a Plasser & Theurer heavy duty diesel hydraulic crane (number 5523 of 1981). Replacements for these cranes are now on order.


66420 was at the other end.


67024 arriving with Belmond Pullman empty-stock, 5Z83 10:57 Chichester - Eastleigh Trsmd, via a reversal in the East Yard.


66727 Maritime One bringing in wagon flats for weekend storage, an early running 4B46 14:49 from Western Docks.


70005 4O27 06:49 Basford Hall - Maritime.


67021 continues with 5Z83, coming out of the East Yard.


66733 6G14 13:01 Eastleigh - Tinsley Green


701010, 701023, 701030 and 701048, the latter brought back from storage, Long Marston - Wimbledon on 22nd August.

57003 into Railfreight Distribution colours

Named Inter City Railway Society 50th Anniversary 1973 - 2023. Rolled out at 14:30 today, during the annual visit of the society to Eastleigh Works.


57003, taken from a public place, on Campbell Road, Eastleigh. 7th September 2024.

The loco carried these colours when it was 47317 Willesden Yard.

57311 arrives at a misty Romsey with 1Z50, Wednesday 4th September.

The first coach was 3330, in an otherwise Mk 1 set.

D1935 (47805) Roger Hosking MA 1925 - 2013 on the rear. This was the same set of Saphos Tours coaches as seen on Shap 4 days previously.
