Eastleigh Works, 10th July 2021

Regrettably, rather a lot of potential interest was obscured by wagons, and of course the dreadful new fence.

A further view of 69002 prior to its departure for Waterloo, and later to Tonbridge.

Mk 2f FO 3325, which is understood to be in the ownership of Riviera.

142056 and the remaining three coaches of 317722.

59003 languished within the works.

69002 departs Eastleigh for naming at Waterloo, 10th July 2021

69002 + 66789 British Rail 1948 - 1997 0Z69 07:53 Eastleigh - Waterloo, where 69002 was named Bob Tiller CM&EE.

Soon after 7 a.m,, and the pair of Large Logo locomotives were prepared and running at the Works, with nameplates covered on 69002.

Now moving, and proceeding towards platform 2 at the station. 69002 was formerly 56311, originally 56057, completed at Doncaster in March 1979.

A closer view of 69002 as it enters the platform. To me the Class 69 sounds rather like a Class 57.

There followed a short break for a person to board from the platform to take a place in the secondman's seat.

The pair of locomotives ready to proceed.

Away, and heading to Waterloo, where arrival was on time

69002 was operating in multiple with 66789,

A video of the naming ceremony.

There is a rumour that Class 69 may shortly operate on the Mountfield workings.

Isle of Wight railway £67m extension plans submitted - via the Sandown - Merstone Junction - Blackwater - Newport route, thus not conflicting with the steam railway. Currently a rather good cycle route, part of the Red Squirrel Trail.where most structures are intact, although there is a short deviation at Horringford.

59003 still waylaid, noted on Eastleigh Works, 66723 has worked the Eastleigh - Westbury cycle through the week.
