D1935 (47805) Roger Hosking MA 1925 - 2013 on the rear of the train, which returned via the Cumbrian Coast.


34067 Tangmere on a 'Northern Belle'  1Z52 0634 Hull to Carlisle (steam from Carnforth).

The fireman is confident ion taking his rest with about 2 miles to the summit.

57313 Scarborough Castle on the rear. The return working was by the Settle & Carlisle.

Only eight minutes after Britannia passed, 34067 is on the next train, passing Low Moor Cottages

There was a blustery wind from the west, and this made photography of Tangmere rather sub-optimal.

Mk 2F FO 3313 has replaced Mk 2D 3182, which was fire damaged, as WARWICK in 2024.

57601 Windsor Castle on the 'Northern Belle' 1Z73 13:42 Edinburgh to Gleneagles (clockwise Fife Circle - Dalmeny  - Winchburgh - Gleneagles).


57313 Scarborough Castle on the rear.


The 'Royal Scotsman' should have been on the tail of the Belle, but was 17 minutes late leaving the platform in Edinburgh.

A short hop to Aberdour, led to a short wait for 57601, by now 20 minutes early.

West Coast 47s on the Northern Belle, 1st July 2023

 

47813 leading 1Z81 09:15 Victoria - Bournemouth. This loco worked with Rail Operations Group as Jack Frost until March 2021.

On a non-strike Thursday, 15th December, but with no passenger services, DRS 66122 psses Aberdour as 0Z60 0842 Grangemouth - Motherwell, running to Thoornton for driver training runs to Earlseat on the Leven branch.

'Northern Belle' ECS to Eastleigh, 23rd November 2022

The first coach was E325E AMBER.


47832 on the rear.


The train worked around the depot loop, with 57313 working it in both directions.

Northern Belle to Dundee, for Glamis Castle, 14th July 2022

 
In the morning, the outward 1Z60 06:24 Darlington - Dundee ran via Dunfermline and Cowdenbeath. 47826 has the power on through Dunfermline (Lower / Town / City?).

57314 on the rear of the train, as it climbs towards the former Touch South Junction.

The recently applied Conwy Castle nameplates can be seen

47826 being towed on the rear. The Mk1 Pullman is AMBER No. 325, once preserved at the Strathspey Railway, and later the Mid-Hants.

57601 Windsor Castle approaches the station with 5Z57 13:44 Winchester - Eastleigh

Unfortunately, the train ran through platform 3, with 57601 now past the platforms.

57313 Scarborough Castle on the rear. The train came out of the depot as it came in, so 57313 led the return.
