Mendip Rail workings and wagons, week of 17th October 2022

A snapshot based upon last week, with a focus upon '5932' JNA wagons being introduced and JYA being retired.

No KEA wagons observed, but no information for these. Two JYA's were in the rake for Tuesday's 'Chi stone'.

The new blue VTG JNA wagons appear to have been delivered in four batches, to date.

  • 25 in range 81.70.5932.461-490 to Tonbridge 4th May, then Westbury on 2nd June (+ later, it appears the other 5, as I have seen 4 of them.)
  • 30 in range 81.70.5932.491-520 to Eastleigh on 11th June, later to Whatley.
  • 30 in range 81.70.5932.521-550 to Tonbridge on 23rd July, then Wembley, and 26 to Stoke Gifford on 19th August (still there 22nd September), with remainder to Merehead on19th August.
  • 30 in range 81.70.5932.551-580 to Wembley on 5th October, then to Westbury area 12th October
So, 120 wagons so far.

In June, the Mendip Pools contained:
  • JNA 3160-3168 (pool 718 = 1, pool 728 = 1) = 2
  • KEA 3170-3246 (pool 718 = 15, pool 728 = 9) = 24
  • JYA 3268-3328 (pool 525 = 11 outers, pool 527 = 46 inners ) = 57 of which 22 since sent for disposal (4 outers,18 inners)
  • JNA 3401-3519 (pool 810 = 33) = 33
  • JNA 3901-3954 (pool 636 = 10, pool 638 = 45) = 55
  • JNA 3955-3989 (pool 829 = 8, pool 831 = 27 ) = 35
Total non Greenbrier boxes = 206.
