Class 317s for scrap, Eastleigh, 4th December 2020

57303 + 317666 + 317503 (reformed with DTS 77063 of 317512 for disposal) 5Q87 10:59 Ilford - Eastleigh.

317666 has been formed DTS 77217 + MS 62863 + TS 71752 + DTC 77237. This unit was delivered in April 1986 as a Class 317/2 317366 to Hornsey for Great Northern duties. Overhauled and upgraded to Class 365 standard at Wolverton in March 1999 as 317666. Latterly stored at Parkeston.

317503 arrived formed DTS(A) 77002 + MS 62663 + TC 71579 + DTS(B) 77063. The first three coaches were delivered in early Class 317/1 unit 317303 in October 1981 to Cricklewood for 'Bedpan' services. Renumber 317503 in December 2005.

317503 and 317512 were sent to Brodie's at Kilmarnock Bonnyton on 28th September and it appears that 77050 was swapped into 317512, being replaced with 77063 (new in March 1982). Corrosion may have been the reason for making this exchange. The units returned to Ilford on 1st December, after it appears that 317512 received some refurbishment.
