Tractors on the Test Train, Romsey, 6th February 2025

37610 + 37057 Barbara Arbon 1Q23 15:28 Salisbury - Salisbury. The first pair of real locos on this test train since the pair of Colas 67s on 8th April 2021, and a pair of Colas 37s on 19th November 2020.

The test train coaches were 72612 + 975091 MENTOR  + 72631 (PLPR1) + 6262.    

37610 is leased to Colas. As a HNRC asset, this may have been sold to Swietelsky. 


37610 was delivered new as D6881 from English Electric Robert Stephenson & Hawthorns at Darlington on 21st October 1963


975091 MENTOR, originally BSK S34615 delivered by Gloucester RC&W in October 1955 to Lot 30142, then configured with vacuum brake and dual heat.


37057 leading on the return.

37057 was built at Vulcan Foundry, new as D6757 on 5th October 1962.

Class 387s now seem to be regulars on Southern workings, this is 387129, ready to run 1N25 11:20 Southampton - Brighton. This unit previously ran for Great Northern.

66538 4M65 13:12 Maritime - Lawley Street.

458428 + 458427 5X95 12:17 Wimbledon Park - Bournemouth (above and below). These units have been active on Waterloo - Weybridge services.

70008 had arrived at Maritime behind 66415 in 4O14 06:04 Basford Hall - Maritime, then worked 4M99 14:57 Maritime - Basford Hall.Seen at about 14:15. It's in the bag, will try to do better next time!

70011 4M61 12:56 Maritime - Trafford Park. The Trafford Park yard may be moved to Parkside East in St Helens, which lies in the Liverpool Freeport, and would allow for Manchester United stadium redevelopment.

56094 at Eastleigh, 25th January, later dragged north to Hinksey, then likely Bescot, on Monday 27th, and light engine 0Z30 onwards to Rectory Junction / Colwick on 28th, where 56094 was withdrawn as out of hours, along with already sidelined 56087 and 56096. 56078 is reported as potentially being next.

The Brighton Belle set has been out for some testing from LSL at Crewe

The second part of the recent Mendip O&K JHA move to Crewe saw 17 wagons sent onward for scrap at Kingsbury on 30th. Flickr for the day. A further set of 34 new HOA wagons went to Merehead on 20th.Flickr for the day.

A further 10 pairs of  Wascosa FEA-W wagons are reported as expected at Eastleigh on Monday 3rd, having travelled across Europe.
