Peak Rail Diesel Gala, 16th April 2023 Part 4: 47402

The mighty 'Generator' Class 47.of the ECML. The second Brush Type 4, D1501 was delivered to Finsbury Park in November 1962. Renumbered to 47402 in February 1974. Withdrawn in June 1992, and entered preservation in 1993 at the East Lancashire Railway, under the ownership of Pete Waterman. In 2013, it visited the Mid-Hants Railway Diesel Gala. Moved in 2022 to Peak Rail, to join more items in the Waterman Railway Heritage Trust.

GBRf convoy at Doncaster, 22nd May 2023

60047 + 60021 PENYGHENT + 69005 Eastleigh + 69002 Bob Tiller CM&EE 0D63 09:00 Tyne Coal Terminal Gbrf - Doncaster Down Decoy Gbrf

The pair of 69s had worked weedkiller circuits in the North East, then took the stock to Scotland, where there were some nocturnal runs, before handing over to Class 66s. They then returned to Tyne, before the move seen here. After this return to Doncaster they started the next day on another weedkiller circuit in the Midlands, working from Kings Norton..

60047 was working Tyne Dock to Drax and Lynemouth biomass trains, and returned to these workings.

60021 was forwarded to Toton, and returned to Doncaster at the end of the following week.


60047 unofficially named Faithful.


60021 was next in the convoy.


Followed by 69005.


And 69002.


After a pause the convoy moved forward to Down Decoy.


60047, still in the Colas scheme, later returned as 0N01 13:05 Hexthorpe R.S. - Tyne Coal Terminal Gbrf.

Swanage Railway Diesel Gala, 12th May 2023 Part 4: 45108

45108 (D120) was new to traffic from BR Crewe in September 1961. Air brakes and ETH fitted in April 1973, when renumbered as 45108. Withdrawn in August 1987, and preserved for some time at Crewe Heritage Centre, passing to the Peak Locomotive Company in 2008, who repaired it, and currently have it outbased at the East Lancashire Railway.


45108 comes into the station at Swanage, about to pass under Northbrook Road.

Strathspey Railway Mixed Traffic Gala, 7th April 2023 part 5: Miscellany

 
Pilot Scheme D5302 (26002), delivered to BR from BRCW in October 1958, was outdoors for viewing at Boat of Garten.


26002 + 26025 were both withdrawn in October 1992.


26025 (D5325)  from the production batch, was new to BR at Haymarket in May 1959. 


46512 (BR Swindon, December 1952) entering the yard at Boat of Garten.


D3605 (08490), new from BR Horwich, November 1958) shunting at Boat of Garten. 

E1719E is a LNER observation coach, delivered as a 'Beavertail' for the 'Coronation' express of 1937, and modified for Scottish Region usage in the 1950s. After a while on the Lochty Railway, it migrated to the Great Central Railway, and is on a multi-year hire to the Strathspey.

4477 (centre in picture) is a Mk 1 SO (2 + 1 seating), which was new from BRCW in June 1957, and moved to the Strathspey in 1986.

A crane is being installed at the inspection road at Maritime.

West Coast Railway Co rolling stock may only have a derogation to run without central door locking until 30th June (mainstream media managed to throw Flying Scotsman into the story). Note that the LSL implementation using reuitilised Mk 3 components only appears to be suitable for air-braked coaches.

ScotRail and other HSTs may be boycotted by ASLEF from 12th August.

69008 anticipated arrival at Eastleigh Works on 8th June, now 6th. Various Q paths also in for Class 313 moves, all arriving at Eastleigh at 11:27..

Peak Rail Diesel Gala, 16th April 2023 Part 3: 25309

D7659 was built as a Class 25 with the revised ventilation, by Beyer Peacock in Manchester, entering traffic on the London Midland Region in July 1966. Renumbered to 25309 in April 1974, and then 25909 in December 1985, before withdrawal in September 1986. Now in the ownership of the Waterman Railway Heritage Trust, it spent 23 years out of traffic until a comeback in 2021.
