DRK 81621 is a Volker Rail operated Kirow 25 tonne crane, built in 2006.

DRK 81622 is in similar usage and of same age. KFA wagon VR 97409 is a match wagon.

158885 and 66957 Stephenson Locomotive Society 1909-2009 leading 4M65 13:46 Maritime - Lawley Street.


The train was crawling towards a red signal, which cleared before a total stop could be made. UPDATE: After a return to Southampton, the locomotive worked 4E96 to Leeds on 14th , and was then stored.

66601 The Hope Valley with a late running 6V62 13:21 Up Yard - Whatley.

The KEA wagons were VTG 3229, 3202 and 3224, with the latter nearest the camera.

Formerly in the Shanks scheme, 66522 hauls 7V09 13:41 Chichester - Merehead.

The second of two low-level Chinook passes. This year sees the 40th anniversary of RAF Chinook operations.

Class 455/8 5864 as 5B39 10:03 Wimbledon - Bournemouth. This unit was new in October 1983, and while now re-tractioned with ac motors, it is quite a bit older than the Class 317 units being scrapped at Eastleigh. Scrapping will likely follow once Class 701 is in traffic.

This KEA, VTG 3206, is single pipe braked, buffered at each end. The other example in the train VTG 3172, is buffered at one end only.

Three varied trains in one hour between 13:31 and 14:29.

The Bristol to Up Yard aggregates train ran once again, the return empties 6V62 13:21 Up Yard - Bristol were headed by 66420, later seen near Bath.


Most of the train was MWA box wagons, this is 81.70.5891.564-3, built by Greenbrier in Poland in 2018.

From the Chandlers Ford line came 66755 Tony Berkeley OBE RFG Chairman 1997-2018 with 6V40 14:05 Easttleigh - Westbury. Later seen at Westbury, having run around.

The consist was Kirow KRC1200UK crane DRK 81612, classified as ZOA, and match wagons.

43062 John Armitt on the rear of the train.

66791 passing in a shower with a short 6V41 1448 Eastleigh-Westbury. EMD serial 20018352-4 formerly T66 404 operated by CargoLink later CargoNet in Norway, arrived in the UK in July 2019, and was placed into GBRf service on 5th November 2020. GBRf repaint is still pending.

DRP 78222 is a YJB twin jib track relayer, built by Plasser+Theurer in 1980.

The NMT passed again on its return to Salisbury, entering the station as the Wentloog left it.
