A Class 47 works southbound passing Penrith No.3 signalbox. A new signal for the Carlisle Power Signalbox, opened in March 1973, is out of use. I suspect that the rood canopy may have been trimmed for the pending electrification. The porters' sack barrow is now but a period piece.
