Cumbria - an addendum from July 1972

Restored through the wonders of Photoshop, two pictures taken by my father, while I was present.

A Class 47 works southbound passing Penrith No.3 signalbox. A new signal for the Carlisle Power Signalbox, opened in March 1973, is out of use. I suspect that the rood canopy may have been trimmed for the pending electrification. The porters' sack barrow  is now but a period piece.

The best matching view from 16th October 2016.

At Ravenglass, then general manager Douglas Ferreira exchanging with the driver of River Mite.
