Gloucestershire Warwickshire Railway Diesel Gala, 12th July 2024 3: 20137 + 20228

Newly overhauled 20228 was out for its first workings.

20137 was new from English Electric Vulcan Foundry as D8137 on 12th April 1966. Withdrawn in December 1992, it entered preservation at Toddington by 1994 - so more than half of it's time now spent in preserved ownership.

20228 was new from English Electric Vulcan Foundry as D8128 on 12th January 1966, the first built of the later phase of Class 20 construction, although it later took the last number. Withdrawn in May 1991, and went on to France in July 1992 as CFD 2004. It returned to the UK in 2005 via Barrow Hill, then the Barry Tourist Railway, and moved on to its current home in December 2020, where it completed test running ahead of this gala.
