Evening trains at Aberdour, Wednesday 23rd August

Another session at Aberdour, one of the Class 68s was a new one for me, and the other active Colas Class 60 in Scotland worked through with the cement empties.

Subsequently 68030 and 68032 have been seen working these services.

Maritime, Sunday 3rd September 2017

08530 was new as D3692 from BR Darlington in March 1959, allocated to 34B Hornsey. Air brakes fitted in October 1971 and renumbered 08530 in July 1974. Its most recent previous stint at Southampton was in 2014, and this time it arrived in mid-August following tyre turning at Leeds, and overhaul at LH Services.

08624 arrived at Maritime in late May for its current presence. This locomotive was new as D3791 from BR Derby in October 1959, originally allocated to 15C Leicester Midland, renumbered 08624 in March 1974.

The Shanks livery on 66522 is now more than 11 years old and is looking rather worn. Working as 'Super Shunter' on the Sunday morning.

66957 is one of the Beacon Rail Leasing Class 66s, recently in storage from late May until mid-August, returned to traffic following repair work at EMD Longport.

After about two years, 92018 is now about sorted out and performs on the Caledonian Sleeper. Seen laying over at Waverley, where the short east end platforms are no longer available for locos, as the full length platforms 5&6 are being reinstated.

91132 departs on rear of 1E14 12:00 Edinburgh - Kings Cross. Platform 5 & 6 work on the left.

91121 arrives with 1S06 07:30 Kings Cross - Edinburgh. It is strange to think that the Class 91 + Mk 4 will be usurped by Azumas over the next year or so.

334037 at Haymarket with 2H48 18:48 Edinburgh Waverley - Helensburgh Central.

156509 arrives with 2K27 19:11 Edinburgh Waverley - Kirkcaldy.

Larbert, 21st August 2017

The colour light signals at Larbert are controlled from a traditional frame at the remaining North signal box, which remotely covers an extended area. The next change here will be electrification, My first visit since about 1976.

66303, repainted at Eastleigh earlier this year, with 4D47 13:05 Inverness - Mossend.

43272 + 43208 Lincolnshire Echo pass with the delayed 1S16 12:00 Kings Cross - Inverness 'Highland Chieftain'.

More typical are Class 156, 158 and 170. 156465 in First Scotrail colours, with 2N49 16:49 Queen Street - Dunblane

With the Larbert North signal box in the background, 156500 approaches with 2N58 17:41 Alloa - Queen Street.
